Disney XD will launch a 73-hour marathon of its signature series Phineas And Ferb beginning June 9. It will culminate in the series finale that now has a date and time: 9 PM Friday, June 12. The final episode, titled “Last Day Of Summer,” will wrap a run that included 126 episodes, five one-hour specials and a Disney Channel original movie. Disney also said today that a stand-alone hourlong special, The O.W.C.A. Files, which focuses on Agent P and his fellow animal agents, will premiere in the fall.
It won’t be the end of the run for creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, who will stay at Disney Television Animation with a new Disney XD comedy series called Mikey Murphy’s Law, set for a 2017 bow. Phineas And Ferb producer-director Robert F. Hughes, story editor Scott Peterson and staff writers Joshua Pruett, Dani Vetere and Martin Olson will join them for the new series, which introduces Mikey, the fictional great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy’s Law namesake.
“Dan and Swampy are two of the most respected and proven show creators in the animation series business,” said Marc Buhaj, SVP Programming and GM at Disney XD. “They are incredibly gifted storytellers who have a track record of creating smart, original and relatable characters that are universally appealing to both kids and families. It’s a coup for Disney XD to continue working with this talented duo on their latest creation Mikey Murphy’s Law.”
Phineas And Ferb has been nominated for nine Emmy Awards and won three.
