Turkish people in France are either those who live in France even though not being born in the county, or are French-born, but have Turkish roots (Turkish-French or French-Turks); by Turkish roots, this could mean roots linking back to Turkey, the island of Cyprus or the communities of the Turkish diaspora.

History

In the 1920s to the 1960s the postwar reconsturction provided a new incentive to immigrants; a large numbers of Turks began to migrate to France at the beginning of the 1970s.

During the 1970s many Turks (mainly Turkish cypriot) and French people also immigrated to the United Kingdom which has resulted to Turkish-French marrigages and births in the UK.

Turkish people living in France are mainly concentrated in Paris, Alsace and in Lorraine
