An archaeological site is a place (or group of physical sites) in which evidence of past activity is preserved (either prehistoric or historic or contemporary), and which has been, or may be, investigated using the discipline of archaeology and represents a part of the archaeological record.

Peru

Sacsayhuamán
Sacsayhuamán, often spelled Sacsahuaman or Saqsaywaman (from Quechua Saqsaywaman (pukara) '(fortress) of the royal falcon or hawk'), is a citadel on the northern outskirts of the city of Cusco, Peru, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. Ahu Vinapu and Sacsayhuamán are Polygonal masonry.
