Argoides, the Glossary

Index Argoides

Argoides is an ichnogenus of dinosaur footprint, originally named as an ichnospecies of Ornithichnites, left by what was possibly an ornithopod, although due to the age of the tracks (some of which predate the oldest known ornithopod fossils), they were probably instead made by theropods.[1]

Connecticut

Connecticut is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States.

See Argoides and Connecticut

Dinosaur

Dinosaurs are a diverse group of reptiles of the clade Dinosauria.

See Argoides and Dinosaur

Early Jurassic

The Early Jurassic Epoch (in chronostratigraphy corresponding to the Lower Jurassic Series) is the earliest of three epochs of the Jurassic Period.

Edward Hitchcock

Edward Hitchcock (May 24, 1793 – February 27, 1864) was an American geologist and the third President of Amherst College (1845–1854).

Holotype

A holotype is a single physical example (or illustration) of an organism used when the species (or lower-ranked taxon) was formally described.

See Argoides and Holotype

Ichnotaxon

An ichnotaxon (plural ichnotaxa) is "a taxon based on the fossilized work of an organism", i.e. the non-human equivalent of an artifact.

See Argoides and Ichnotaxon

Late Triassic

The Late Triassic is the third and final epoch of the Triassic Period in the geologic time scale, spanning the time between Ma and Ma (million years ago).

See Argoides and Late Triassic

List of dinosaur ichnogenera

This list of dinosaur ichnogenera is a comprehensive listing of all ichnogenera that have been attributed to dinosaurs, excluding class Aves (birds, both living and those known only from fossils) and purely vernacular terms. Argoides and list of dinosaur ichnogenera are dinosaur trace fossils.

See Argoides and List of dinosaur ichnogenera

Massachusetts

Massachusetts (script), officially the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, is a state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States.

See Argoides and Massachusetts

New Jersey

New Jersey is a state situated within both the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern regions of the United States.

See Argoides and New Jersey

Ornithichnites

Ornithichnites is an ichnotaxon of mammal footprint that was originally classified as a dinosaur.

See Argoides and Ornithichnites

Ornithopoda

Ornithopoda is a clade of ornithischian dinosaurs, called ornithopods.

See Argoides and Ornithopoda

Passaic Formation

The Passaic Formation is a mapped bedrock unit in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. Argoides and Passaic Formation are Paleontology in New Jersey.

See Argoides and Passaic Formation

Portland Formation

The Portland Formation is a geological formation in Connecticut and Massachusetts in the northeastern United States.

See Argoides and Portland Formation

Theropoda

Theropoda (from ancient Greek whose members are known as theropods, is a dinosaur clade that is characterized by hollow bones and three toes and claws on each limb. Theropods are generally classed as a group of saurischian dinosaurs. They were ancestrally carnivorous, although a number of theropod groups evolved to become herbivores and omnivores.

See Argoides and Theropoda

Turners Falls Formation

The Turners Falls Formation or Turners Falls Sandstone is an Early Jurassic geological formation in Massachusetts.
