Corner tube boiler, the Glossary

Index Corner tube boiler

A cornertube boiler is a type of natural circulation water-tube boiler which differentiates itself from other water tube boilers by its characteristic water-steam cycle and a pre-separation of heated steam from the steam-water mixture occurs outside the drum and the unheated downcomers.[1]

Bagasse

Bagasse is the dry pulpy fibrous material that remains after crushing sugarcane or sorghum stalks to extract their juice.

See Corner tube boiler and Bagasse

Biomass

Biomass is a term used in several contexts: in the context of ecology it means living organisms, and in the context of bioenergy it means matter from recently living (but now dead) organisms.

See Corner tube boiler and Biomass

Coal

Coal is a combustible black or brownish-black sedimentary rock, formed as rock strata called coal seams.

Concentrated solar power

Concentrated solar power (CSP, also known as concentrating solar power, concentrated solar thermal) systems generate solar power by using mirrors or lenses to concentrate a large area of sunlight into a receiver.

Eucalyptus squamosa

Eucalyptus squamosa, commonly known as scaly bark, is a species of small to medium-sized tree that is endemic to the Sydney region in New South Wales.

See Corner tube boiler and Eucalyptus squamosa

Firewood

Firewood is any wooden material that is gathered and used for fuel.

See Corner tube boiler and Firewood

Foam

Foams are materials formed by trapping pockets of gas in a liquid or solid.

See Corner tube boiler and Foam

Fuel gas

Fuel gas is one of a number of fuels that under ordinary conditions are gaseous.

See Corner tube boiler and Fuel gas

Industrial waste

Industrial waste is the waste produced by industrial activity which includes any material that is rendered useless during a manufacturing process such as that of factories, mills, and mining operations.

See Corner tube boiler and Industrial waste

Landfill gas

Landfill gas is a mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a landfill as they decompose organic waste, including for example, food waste and paper waste.

See Corner tube boiler and Landfill gas

Lignite

Lignite (derived from Latin lignum meaning 'wood'), often referred to as brown coal, is a soft, brown, combustible sedimentary rock formed from naturally compressed peat.

See Corner tube boiler and Lignite

Litter

Litter consists of waste products that have been discarded incorrectly, without consent, at an unsuitable location.

See Corner tube boiler and Litter

Monocoque

Monocoque, also called structural skin, is a structural system in which loads are supported by an object's external skin, in a manner similar to an egg shell.

See Corner tube boiler and Monocoque

Oil

An oil is any nonpolar chemical substance that is composed primarily of hydrocarbons and is hydrophobic (does not mix with water) and lipophilic (mixes with other oils).

See Corner tube boiler and Oil

Organic matter

Organic matter, organic material, or natural organic matter refers to the large source of carbon-based compounds found within natural and engineered, terrestrial, and aquatic environments.

Rice hull

Rice hulls or husks are the hard protecting coverings of grains of rice.

See Corner tube boiler and Rice hull

Rubberwood

Rubberwood is a light-colored medium-density tropical hardwood obtained from the Pará rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis), usually from trees grown in rubber plantations.

See Corner tube boiler and Rubberwood

Sludge

Sludge is a semi-solid slurry that can be produced from a range of industrial processes, from water treatment, wastewater treatment or on-site sanitation systems.

See Corner tube boiler and Sludge

Water-tube boiler

A high pressure watertube boiler (also spelled water-tube and water tube) is a type of boiler in which water circulates in tubes heated externally by fire. Corner tube boiler and water-tube boiler are water-tube boilers.

Wood

Wood is a structural tissue found in the stems and roots of trees and other woody plants.

See Corner tube boiler and Wood

Woodchips

Woodchips are small- to medium-sized pieces of wood formed by cutting or chipping larger pieces of wood such as trees, branches, logging residues, stumps, roots, and wood waste.

World War II

World War II or the Second World War (1 September 1939 – 2 September 1945) was a global conflict between two alliances: the Allies and the Axis powers.
