Campanian
The Campanian is the fifth of six ages of the Late Cretaceous Epoch on the geologic timescale of the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS).
Citipati
Citipati (meaning "funeral pyre lord") is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period, about 75 million to 71 million years ago. Khaan and Citipati are Djadochta fauna, fossil taxa described in 2001, late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia, taxa named by Mark Norell and taxa named by Rinchen Barsbold.
Cladogram
A cladogram (from Greek clados "branch" and gramma "character") is a diagram used in cladistics to show relations among organisms.
Conchoraptor
Conchoraptor (meaning "conch plunderer") is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaurs that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous epoch, about 70 million years ago. Khaan and Conchoraptor are late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia and taxa named by Rinchen Barsbold.
Dinosaur
Dinosaurs are a diverse group of reptiles of the clade Dinosauria.
Djadochta Formation
The Djadochta Formation (sometimes transcribed and also known as Djadokhta, Djadokata, or Dzhadokhtskaya) is a highly fossiliferous geological formation situated in Central Asia, Gobi Desert, dating from the Late Cretaceous period, about 75 million to 71 million years ago.
See Khaan and Djadochta Formation
Haemal arch
A haemal arch, also known as a chevron, is a bony arch on the ventral side of a tail vertebra of a vertebrate.
Heyuannia
Heyuannia ("from Heyuan") is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous epoch, in what is now China and Mongolia. Khaan and Heyuannia are late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia.
Holotype
A holotype is a single physical example (or illustration) of an organism used when the species (or lower-ranked taxon) was formally described.
Incisivosaurus
Incisivosaurus ("incisor lizard") is a genus of small, probably herbivorous theropod dinosaurs from the early Cretaceous Period of what is now the People's Republic of China.
Late Cretaceous
The Late Cretaceous (100.5–66 Ma) is the younger of two epochs into which the Cretaceous Period is divided in the geologic time scale.
Lizard
Lizard is the common name used for all squamate reptiles other than snakes (and to a lesser extent amphisbaenians), encompassing over 7,000 species, ranging across all continents except Antarctica, as well as most oceanic island chains.
See Khaan and Lizard
Machairasaurus
Machairasaurus is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur which was found in the Bayan Mandahu Formation, China, dating to the late Cretaceous period. Khaan and Machairasaurus are late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia.
Malcolm McKenna
Malcolm Carnegie McKenna (1930–2008) was an American paleontologist and author on the subject.
Mammal
A mammal is a vertebrate animal of the class Mammalia.
See Khaan and Mammal
In human anatomy, the metacarpal bones or metacarpus, also known as the "palm bones", are the appendicular bones that form the intermediate part of the hand between the phalanges (fingers) and the carpal bones (wrist bones), which articulate with the forearm.
See Khaan and Metacarpal bones
Million years ago
Million years ago, abbreviated as Mya, Myr (megayear) or Ma (megaannum), is a unit of time equal to (i.e. years), or approximately 31.6 teraseconds.
See Khaan and Million years ago
Mongolia
Mongolia is a landlocked country in East Asia, bordered by Russia to the north and China to the south.
Mongols
The Mongols are an East Asian ethnic group native to Mongolia, China (majority in Inner Mongolia), as well as Buryatia and Kalmykia of Russia.
Nature (journal)
Nature is a British weekly scientific journal founded and based in London, England.
See Khaan and Nature (journal)
Nemegtomaia
Nemegtomaia is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur from what is now Mongolia that lived in the Late Cretaceous Period, about 70million years ago. Khaan and Nemegtomaia are late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia.
Ontogeny
Ontogeny (also ontogenesis) is the origination and development of an organism (both physical and psychological, e.g., moral development), usually from the time of fertilization of the egg to adult.
Oviraptor
Oviraptor is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous period. Khaan and oviraptor are Djadochta fauna and late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia.
Oviraptoridae
Oviraptoridae is a group of bird-like, herbivorous and omnivorous maniraptoran dinosaurs.
Paleontology
Paleontology, also spelled palaeontology or palæontology, is the scientific study of life that existed prior to the start of the Holocene epoch (roughly 11,700 years before present).
Rinchen Barsbold
Rinchen Barsbold (Ринченгийн Барсболд, Rinchyengiin Barsbold, born December 21, 1935, in Ulaanbaatar) is a Mongolian paleontologist and geologist.

Rinchenia
Rinchenia (named after Byambyn Rinchen) is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaur that lived in Asia during the Late Cretaceous epoch in what is now Mongolia, Nemegt Formation, around 70 million years ago. Khaan and Rinchenia are late Cretaceous dinosaurs of Asia and taxa named by Rinchen Barsbold.
Sexual dimorphism
Sexual dimorphism is the condition where sexes of the same species exhibit different morphological characteristics, particularly characteristics not directly involved in reproduction.
See Khaan and Sexual dimorphism
Specific name (zoology)
In zoological nomenclature, the specific name (also specific epithet, species epithet, or epitheton) is the second part (the second name) within the scientific name of a species (a binomen).
See Khaan and Specific name (zoology)
Timeline of oviraptorosaur research
This timeline of oviraptorosaur research is a chronological listing of events in the history of paleontology focused on the oviraptorosaurs, a group of beaked, bird-like theropod dinosaurs.

Type species
In zoological nomenclature, a type species (species typica) is the species name with which the name of a genus or subgenus is considered to be permanently taxonomically associated, i.e., the species that contains the biological type specimen (or specimens).
Vertebrate
Vertebrates are deuterostomal animals with bony or cartilaginous axial endoskeleton — known as the vertebral column, spine or backbone — around and along the spinal cord, including all fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
