New Peasant Poets (Новокрестьянские поэты) was the conditional collective name of a group of Russian poets of the Silver Age of peasant origin.[1]

Ivan Zakharovich Surikov (Ива́н Заха́рович Су́риков, April 6, 1841, Novosyolovo, Uglich, Yaroslavl, Russian Empire– May 6, 1880, Moscow) was a Russian self-taught peasant poet, best known for his folklore-influenced ballads, some of which were put to music by well-known composers (Tchaikovsky, Cui, Rimsky-Korsakov, Gretchaninov among them), while some ("Rowan", "Steppe" and others) became real folk songs.

Sergey Antonovich Klychkov (Сергей Антонович Клычков;There is a controversy as to this. According to several sources, including the extensive biography at ruvera.ru (Russian religious site), his real name was Klychkov, as corroborated by the church metrics, while his family's nickname in the village was Leshenkov (Лешенков, Wood Demon's people), which he occasionally used as a pen name.
