An oil base or oil pedestal is a water, dirt and fat repellent paint, which is applied directly as a coating on the rough plaster to protect it.[1]

Alkyd
An alkyd is a polyester resin modified by the addition of fatty acids and other components.
Coating
A coating is a covering that is applied to the surface of an object, or substrate.
Paint
Paint is a material or mixture that, when applied to a solid material and allowed to dry, adds a film-like layer. Oil base and Paint are Paints.
Plaster
Plaster is a building material used for the protective or decorative coating of walls and ceilings and for moulding and casting decorative elements. Oil base and Plaster are Wallcoverings.
Stairs
Stairs are a structure designed to bridge a large vertical distance between lower and higher levels by dividing it into smaller vertical distances.
