The Defenders of the Homeland (Kyōdo Bōei Giyūgun; (Tentara Sukarela) Pembela Tanah Air, PETA) was a volunteer army established on 3 October 1943 in the Dutch East Indies (present-day Indonesia) by the occupying Japanese.[1]
