Pteruchus, the Glossary

Index Pteruchus

Pteruchus is a form genus for pollen organs of the seed fern (Pteridospermatophyta family Umkomasiaceae. It was first described by Hamshaw Thomas from the Umkomaas locality of South Africa. It is associated with the seed bearing organs Umkomasia and Dicroidium leaves.[1]

Corystospermaceae

Corystosperms are a group of extinct seed plants (often referred to as "seed ferns") belonging to the family Corystospermaceae (also called Umkomasiaceae) assigned to the order Corystospermales or Umkomasiales. Pteruchus and Corystospermaceae are Pteridospermatophyta and Triassic plants.

See Pteruchus and Corystospermaceae

Dicroidium odontopteroides

Dicroidium odontopteroides was a common and widespread species of Dicroidium known from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South America and Antarctica. Pteruchus and Dicroidium odontopteroides are Mesozoic plant stubs, Pteridospermatophyta, Triassic plants and Triassic stubs.

See Pteruchus and Dicroidium odontopteroides

Dicroidium zuberi

Dicroidium zuberi is a large bipinnate species of the seed fern Dicroidium with a forked rachis. Pteruchus and Dicroidium zuberi are Pteridospermatophyta and Triassic plants.

See Pteruchus and Dicroidium zuberi

Pteridospermatophyta

Pteridospermatophyta, also called "pteridosperms" or "seed ferns" are a polyphyletic grouping of extinct seed-producing plants. Pteruchus and Pteridospermatophyta are Triassic plants.

See Pteruchus and Pteridospermatophyta

Pteruchus africanus

Pteruchus africanus is a pollen organ of a seed fern (Pteridospermatophyta). Pteruchus and Pteruchus africanus are Mesozoic plant stubs, Pteridospermatophyta, Triassic plants and Triassic stubs.

See Pteruchus and Pteruchus africanus

Pteruchus barrealensis

Pteruchus barrealensis is an unusually large species of Pteruchus with very elongate polleniferous heads from Early Triassic of Australia and Argentina. Pteruchus and Pteruchus barrealensis are Mesozoic plant stubs, Pteridospermatophyta, Triassic plants and Triassic stubs.

See Pteruchus and Pteruchus barrealensis

Umkomasia

Umkomasia is a genus of seed bearing organs produced by corystosperm seed ferns, first based on fossils collected by Hamshaw Thomas from the Burnera Waterfall locality near the Umkomaas River of South Africa. Pteruchus and Umkomasia are Pteridospermatophyta and Triassic plants.

See Pteruchus and Umkomasia

Umkomasia feistmantelii

Umkomasia feistmantelii is an unusually large species of Umkomasia from the Early Triassic of New South Wales, Australia. Pteruchus and Umkomasia feistmantelii are Mesozoic plant stubs, Pteridospermatophyta, Triassic plants and Triassic stubs.

See Pteruchus and Umkomasia feistmantelii

Umkomasia macleanii

Umkomasia macleanii is an ovulate structure of a seed fern (Pteridospermatophyta and the nominate genus of Family Umkomasiaceae. It was first described by Hamshaw Thomas from the Umkomaas locality of South Africa. Pteruchus and Umkomasia macleanii are Mesozoic plant stubs, Pteridospermatophyta, Triassic plants and Triassic stubs.
