- Kidney anatomy
Kidney
In humans, the kidneys are two reddish-brown bean-shaped blood-filtering organs that are a multilobar, multipapillary form of mammalian kidneys, usually without signs of external lobulation.
Parenchyma
bullae. Parenchyma is the bulk of functional substance in an animal organ or structure such as a tumour.
See Renal capsule and Parenchyma
Peritoneum
The peritoneum is the serous membrane forming the lining of the abdominal cavity or coelom in amniotes and some invertebrates, such as annelids.
See Renal capsule and Peritoneum
Renal artery
The renal arteries are paired arteries that supply the kidneys with blood.
See Renal capsule and Renal artery
Renal cortex
The renal cortex is the outer portion of the kidney between the renal capsule and the renal medulla. Renal capsule and renal cortex are kidney anatomy.
See Renal capsule and Renal cortex
Renal fascia
The renal fascia is a dense, elastic connective tissue envelope enclosing the kidney and adrenal gland, together with the layer of perirenal fat surrounding these two. Renal capsule and renal fascia are kidney anatomy.
See Renal capsule and Renal fascia
Renal medulla
The renal medulla (Latin: medulla renis 'marrow of the kidney') is the innermost part of the kidney. Renal capsule and renal medulla are kidney anatomy.
See Renal capsule and Renal medulla
Renal vein
The renal veins in the renal circulation, are large-calibre veins that drain blood filtered by the kidneys into the inferior vena cava.
See Renal capsule and Renal vein
Retroperitoneal space
The retroperitoneal space (retroperitoneum) is the anatomical space (sometimes a potential space) behind (retro) the peritoneum.
See Renal capsule and Retroperitoneal space
Transversalis fascia
The transversalis fascia (or transverse fascia) is the fascial lining of the anterolateral abdominal wall situated between the inner surface of the transverse abdominal muscle, and the preperitoneal fascia.
