Testosterone butyrate, the Glossary
Testosterone butyrate, or testosterone butanoate, also known as androst-4-en-17β-ol-3-one 17β-butanoate, is a synthetic, steroidal androgen and an androgen ester – specifically, the C17β butanoate ester of testosterone – which was first synthesized in the 1930s and was never marketed.[1]

Androgen
An androgen (from Greek andr-, the stem of the word meaning "man") is any natural or synthetic steroid hormone that regulates the development and maintenance of male characteristics in vertebrates by binding to androgen receptors. Testosterone butyrate and androgen are Anabolic–androgenic steroids.
See Testosterone butyrate and Androgen
Androgen ester
An androgen or anabolic steroid ester is an ester of an androgen/anabolic steroid (AAS) such as the natural testosterone or dihydrotestosterone (DHT) or the synthetic nandrolone (19-nortestosterone). Testosterone butyrate and androgen ester are Anabolic–androgenic steroids and Androstanes.

Butyric acid
Butyric acid (from βούτῡρον, meaning "butter"), also known under the systematic name butanoic acid, is a straight-chain alkyl carboxylic acid with the chemical formula.
See Testosterone butyrate and Butyric acid
Chemical synthesis
Chemical synthesis (chemical combination) is the artificial execution of chemical reactions to obtain one or several products.

Ester
In chemistry, an ester is a functional group derived from an acid (organic or inorganic) in which the hydrogen atom (H) of at least one acidic hydroxyl group of that acid is replaced by an organyl group.

Intramuscular injection
Intramuscular injection, often abbreviated IM, is the injection of a substance into a muscle.

Organic compound
Some chemical authorities define an organic compound as a chemical compound that contains a carbon–hydrogen or carbon–carbon bond; others consider an organic compound to be any chemical compound that contains carbon.

Side chain
In organic chemistry and biochemistry, a side chain is a chemical group that is attached to a core part of the molecule called the "main chain" or backbone.

Steroid
A steroid is an organic compound with four fused rings (designated A, B, C, and D) arranged in a specific molecular configuration.

Testosterone
Testosterone is the primary male sex hormone and androgen in males. Testosterone butyrate and Testosterone are Anabolic–androgenic steroids and Androstanes.

Testosterone acetate
Testosterone acetate (brand names Aceto-Sterandryl, Aceto-Testoviron, Amolisin, Androtest A, Deposteron, Farmatest, Perandrone A), or testosterone ethanoate, also known as androst-4-en-17β-ol-3-one 17β-acetate, is an androgen and anabolic steroid and a testosterone ester. Testosterone butyrate and testosterone acetate are Anabolic–androgenic steroids, Androstanes, Genito-urinary system drug stubs and steroid stubs.

Testosterone caproate
Testosterone caproate (TCa), also known as testosterone hexanoate, is an androgen and anabolic steroid and a testosterone ester that is no longer marketed. Testosterone butyrate and testosterone caproate are Anabolic–androgenic steroids, Androstanes, Genito-urinary system drug stubs and steroid stubs.
See Testosterone butyrate and Testosterone caproate
Testosterone enanthate
Testosterone enanthate is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication which is used mainly in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. Testosterone butyrate and testosterone enanthate are Anabolic–androgenic steroids and Androstanes.

Testosterone propionate
Testosterone propionate, sold under the brand name Testoviron among others, is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication which is used mainly in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. Testosterone butyrate and testosterone propionate are Anabolic–androgenic steroids and Androstanes.

Testosterone valerate
Testosterone valerate, or testosterone pentanoate, also known as androst-4-en-17β-ol-3-one 17β-valerate, is a synthetic, steroidal androgen and an androgen ester – specifically, the C17β valerate ester of testosterone – which is used in veterinary medicine. Testosterone butyrate and testosterone valerate are Anabolic–androgenic steroids, Androstanes, Genito-urinary system drug stubs and steroid stubs.
