The Slovak Uprising (of 1848/49) (Slovenské povstanie), Slovak Volunteer Campaigns (Slovenské dobrovoľnícke výpravy) or Slovak Revolt was an uprising of Slovaks in Western parts of Upper Hungary (today mostly Western Slovakia) with the aim of equalizing Slovaks, democratizing political life and achieving social justice within the 1848–49 revolutions in the Habsburg Monarchy. The Slovaks (Slováci, singular: Slovák, feminine: Slovenka, plural: Slovenky) are a West Slavic ethnic group and nation native to Slovakia who share a common ancestry, culture, history and speak the Slovak language.
