From Old Anatolian Turkish [script needed] (emcek).[1] Ultimately a derivation of Proto-Turkic *em- (“to suck”), whence also əmmək (“to suck”) and əmizdirmək (“to breastfeed”). Cognate with Turkish emcik (“breast”), Turkmen emjek (“breast, udder”), Uzbek emchak (“udder”), Uyghur ئەمچەك (emchek, “breast, udder”), Chuvash ӗм (ĕm, “to suck”), etc.
