From Proto-Hellenic *koňňós, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱomyós, from *ḱóm (“with”) + *-yós (“adjectival suffix”), the ancestor of the suffix -ιος (-ios). Cognates include Latin cum, Gaulish com-, and Old English ge-.[1]
