  1. (noun-forming suffix) Added to a verb to form a noun to indicate the result of the action. No longer productive.
  • (noun-forming suffix) Variants:
    -dék is added to some back-vowel words
    szán (to pity) + ‎-dék → ‎szándék (intention)
    -dok is added to some back-vowel words
    nyom (to weigh, press) + ‎-dok → ‎nyomdok (footstep, footprint, track)
    -adék is added to back-vowel words
    hull (to fall) + ‎-adék → ‎hulladék (waste, refuse, garbage)
    -edék is added to front-vowel words
    söpör (to sweep) + ‎-edék → ‎söpredék (riffraff, mob, rabble)
