Reconstruction:Proto-Germanic/rauzą - Wiktionary, the free dictionary
From Wiktionary, the free dictionary
Of unknown origin. The semantic and formal resemblance to Proto-Slavic *rogozъ (“reed, rush”) is strong, though the final *z in the Slavic does not regularly correspond with Germanic *z, and the Slavic could possibly be a metathesis of Proto-Slavic *rozga (“twig, branch”), which appears to be unrelated.[1] Has also been compared to Latin rūscum (“bark; butcher's broom”).
