Rous sarcoma virus

1. A taxonomic species within the family Orthoretroviridae – the first virus shown to cause a cancer (in chickens).

• (species): Ortervirales - order; Orthoretroviridae - family; Orthoretrovirinae - subfamily; Alpharetrovirus - genus

It was discovered in 1911 by Peyton Rous.
