This paper, which presents a number of newly found genes in one Drosophila phylogenetic branch, provides an important confirmation of previously reported de novo evolution of new genes in Drosophila (see previous evaluations of refs {1,2}). This, with the previous findings, provides significant evidence for a new concept of gene evolution: de novo origination of genes.
