Narron
“A-Ah, Lord Runan... I just prefer being quiet, that's all. Besides, it's not like I've done much to be useful, so I really shouldn't be celebrating with the rest of you...”
—Narron, in a conversation with Runan
Narron is a playable character from TearRing Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. He is a young knight in service to Count Merlon of Verge. He is inexperienced, but unknowingly possesses a large amount of potential. He wishes to be helpful to his superiors and appears to have low self-confidence. His reason for becoming a knight is that his sickly mother wants him to be like his father, who he has never seen and knows very little about.

Narron is one of the strongest units in Tear Ring Saga: Utna Heroes Saga. His base stats may seem average at first, but when compared to other cavaliers who join around the same time, they are only slightly worse than Kriess’s. While his growth rates, like most units in the game, are unspectacular, he compensates with Elite, allowing him to gain experience at an accelerated rate. As a result, he is the single best candidate for the first Knight Crest in Chapter 3. The only real competition for the Knight Crest is Estelle (who is unlikely to be used if you’re investing in Narron) or Kriess (if you’re pursuing the Leteena recruitment event), making Narron’s claim to it practically uncontested.
Upon promotion, Narron rapidly ascends into one of the game's strongest units, receiving some of the best promotion bonuses available. The Gold Knight class offers strong stat caps, and his overall stat growth and weapon access make him an excellent boss killer. One notable boss where Narron excels is Barborossa—defeating him requires about 7 Strength procs and 8 Speed procs (or only 5 Speed procs with a Speed Potion) to two-round him. While this is a hefty investment, it’s still more reliable than alternatives like Raffin and Zieg, who must rely on critical hits for a swift kill. If necessary, giving him an Elite Manual allows him to cap his stats, making later bosses—particularly Ernst and Julius—significantly easier to handle.
Narron’s primary weakness is his performance in indoor maps, where his effectiveness is severely reduced. While he loses stats and mobility when dismounted, the larger issue is that he becomes sword-locked, limiting his 1-2 range options. This makes him notably weaker in endgame maps, where ranged attacks become more valuable. Even in certain midgame maps (particularly Chapters 23 and 24), he struggles to keep up with other high-mobility or magic-based units such as Raffin, Sasha, Martel, and Sierra.
Additionally, in the second Verge visit, Narron’s boss-killing role is significantly diminished, as he misses out on his most impactful contribution—defeating Barborossa. While he can still take on Zechariah, Ernst, and Julius, the player has many more viable alternatives by this point. Lionel performs better indoors due to his lack of dismounting penalties, while Raphael boasts superior bases and requires far less investment to handle Ernst and Julius. Raphael also has the edge over Narron in defeating Rakis, as he is the only unit capable of doing so with Dolharken or the Dragon Spear, while Narron’s lack of Flurry makes him the weaker option.
This leaves Zechariah, who—much like Barborossa—requires a significant investment to defeat, but is generally easier to handle due to Narron’s solid Speed progression. However, there are several superior alternatives for this fight, such as Zieg, Lionel, or Roger, who can take down Zechariah with far less investment than Narron requires.
Narron is a top-tier unit who becomes an absolute powerhouse with early investment. His Elite skill, fantastic promotion bonuses, and strong boss-killing potential make him one of the most valuable units in the game. However, his effectiveness is noticeably diminished in indoor maps, where his lack of 1-2 range and reliance on swords hold him back. Despite these drawbacks, Narron remains one of the best candidates for early promotion and will carry the team through a significant portion of the game.

Trivia[]
- Although it is not confirmed, Narron might be the son of Ernst, as they have the same class (Gold Knight) and his mother told him that his father was a general of Canaan.
