- Copy of your current registration
The latter is needed only if you are going to transfer your license plate.
If you are about to buy a used trailer, the following documents are required to be provided:

How to write a Tennessee Trailer Bill of Sale?
The guidelines listed below are based upon our custom Tennessee trailer bill of sale template. But, you should consider the standard document if it is available from the local authorities.
Step 1: Indicate the document’s creation date.
Step 2: Enter the seller’s and buyer’s specifics:
- Full legal name
- Street
- City of residence
- State of residence
- Postal code
- Phone number
- Email address
Step 3: Fill out the details concerning the trailer you are selling:
- Make (manufacturer)
- Trailer Model
- Year
- Color
- Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
Step 4: Enter the transaction method and amount.
Enter the purchase date and specify the total amount that has to be paid for the trailer. You must furthermore indicate the selling method the purchaser will use:
- Giving the full sum as a one-time transaction. One of the more straightforward options: the individual pays the entire amount in a single payment and gets the trailer delivered to them within the same day.
- Installments. Indicate the down payment amount plus the exact date when it should be given, together with the date by which the full sum has to be transferred to the vehicle owner.
- Trailer as a gift. The seller might decide to give away the trailer which means no consideration should be paid for the vehicle.
Next, pick one payment method:
- Cash
- Cheque
- Cashier’s cheque
- Money order
The final thing to do within this part is to select whether or not all applicable taxes are included in the purchase price.
Step 5: Go through standard terms and make sure both parties understand them.
The “as-is” paragraph states that the trailer owner provides no warranty and will not be liable for repairs after the transfer.
Step 6: Now, the document has to be signed.
In the majority of states, the signature of the purchaser isn’t mandatory. Yet, it is advised to have the bill of sale signed by each party. As an extra precaution, you could have one or two individuals witness the process and sign the bill of sale.
Step 7: Notarize the bill of sale
Notarization is usually not necessary, but it can be a decent way to create one more level of legal safety to your agreement.
The buyer will need to own the original bill of sale as it is commonly required during the title change. There are two approaches here: you must either prepare and sign two identical forms or make a duplicate for the seller to keep.
