Industrial 7

Industrial 7 is a space colony introduced in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn.

Overview[]

Located in the shoal zone of former Side 5, Industrial 7 was an enclosed-type industrial colony run by Anaheim Electronics. It had a population of approximately two million, more than half of which were Anaheim Electronics employees and their family, and most of the remaining half being the employees of related or subsidiary companies. It did not belong to any Side, and had no Federation garrison.^[1][2]

History[]

By U.C. 0096, the colony was still incomplete and was being expanded by the colony builder Magallanica. Secretly, however, Magallanica also served as the development base for the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam, a product of the UC Project and the key to Laplace's Box.^[1]

On April 7th, U.C. 0096,^[1][3] the Garencieres, a disguised cargo ship used by the Sleeves, headed for Industrial 7 to receive Laplace's Box from Cardeas Vist, destroying a pursuing Londo Bell mobile suit team in the process. Unbeknownst to them, however, Mineva Lao Zabi stowed away on the ship in an attempt to stop the transfer.^[1][4] Mineva ended up falling from a broken maintenance passage for the colony's artificial sun, but was rescued by Banagher Links, a student from Industrial 7's Anaheim Electronics Industrial College. With Banagher's help, Mineva was able to shake off the pursuit of the Garencieres crew and meet Cardeas Vist in Magallanica. Mineva attempted to convince Cardeas not to hand over the box to Full Frontal. However, Cardeas simply replied that opening the box would not be so easy.^[1][4]

Without divulging his meeting with Mineva, Cardeas met and negotiated with Suberoa Zinnerman, the captain of the Garencieres, in Magallanica. In the meantime, however, two D-50C Loto from ECOAS infiltrated the colony while Londo Bell forces surrounded it. Londo Bell forces soon engaged and destroyed a AMS-129 Geara Zulu standing guard outside the colony.^[1][4]

Sensing the explosion, Garencieres pilot Marida Cruz moved to recover Zinneman in the NZ-666 Kshatriya, causing the battle to spread to the inside of Industrial 7. During the battle, Marida accidentally struck the reactor of a RGZ-95 ReZEL with a beam from one of her suit's funnels, causing it to detonate in a nuclear explosion that annihilated the AE Industrial College and opened a hole on the colony wall.^[4] As the battle continued, damage to the colony grew even worse. Banagher returned to Magallanica in order to rescue Mineva, only to find a mortally wounded Cardeas and the Unicorn Gundam. Cardeas entrusted the Unicorn to Banagher and revealed himself to be Banagher's father. Piloting the Unicorn, Banagher pushed the Kshatriya out of the colony.^[4]

• Industrial 7's name and role in the story were likely a reference to Side 7, the home of Amuro Ray and the place where he became the RX-78-2 Gundam's pilot.
