RGM-79GL GM Command Light Armor
The RGM-79GL GM Command Light Armor was originally featured in the 1/144 scale 0080 RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type model kit instruction manual.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
The RGM-79GL is a retrofitted version of RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type. Like the RGM-79L GM Light Armor, it is a lighter version of its base unit with improved mobility and excels in hit-and-run attacks. Appearance-wise, the GM Command Light Armor has very little in common with the GM Command, lacking the latter's cheek ducts, having a different torso design, etc.
Armaments[]
- Vulcan Gun
- A pair of shell-firing armament built into the head. Low offensive power, only used to restrict enemy movement, and lay down a wall of suppressive fire due to their rapid fire capability.
- Beam Saber
- A beam weapon for close combat. It is a small device held in the mobile suit's hands when operated and is powered by a rechargeable energy capacitor. It emits a blade of plasma contained by an I-Field and can cut through any armor not treated with anti-beam coating. One is stored on the left side of the backpack.
- BOWA BG-M-79F-3A Beam Gun
- The same firearm as used by the RGM-79GS GM Command Space Type. The most unique features of this beam gun are the large beam accelerator and battery pack located on top of the rear portion of the weapon. These mechanics created a type of beam, that in addition to pinpoint penetration of targets, also has the side effect of cutting through the internal systems of the target, which proved to be very effective at disabling the said target.
