Richard Lumumba

Richard "Dick" Lumumba (ディック・ルムンバ Dikku Rumunba^?), also known as Richard Lunland, is a character from Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket. A paraplegic professor, he developed mechanical limbs in the laboratories of the U.N Medical Center at the Ribo Colony, Riah Republic. This was in fact a front for his work on the EFF G-4 Unit's RX-78NT-1 Gundam NT-1 ^[1].

History[]

Thanks to Christina Mackenzie, Alfred Izuruha was able to gain permission to visit the Federation base. Al entered Lab 2, where Dr. Lumumba worked, whilst he was being interviewed by a reporter who has suspicions that his work on mechanical limbs was also being used for mobile suits. Later, Dr. Lumumba allowed Al to play with the controls of a mechanical arm. While Dr. Lumumba was distracted, Al stole his keycard ^[1].

The morning after Chris used the Gundam NT-1 to defeat the Kämpfer, Dr. Lumumba informed Chris that that police wanted to talk to her ^[2].

• His character design was based on actor Morgan Freeman ^[3].
• His surname is perhaps a reference to Congolese leader Patrice Lumumba.
