The Squid-class is a battleship class appearing in the anime series Mobile Suit Victory Gundam.
Technology & Combat Characteristics[]
Developed in parallel with Keilas Guilie to serve as the cannon's defense and control ship, the Squid-class has a symmetrical design in both the horizontal and vertical axis similar to the Amalthea-class and Callisto-class, but featuring more weapons and launching catapults. Its catapults are swiveling upwards from their position on the hull like ramps, allowing both sides of the catapult to be used in combat scenarios. This configuration allows the ship to effectively deploy up to eight mobile suits at once, though this also puts the catapults at risk. While very large and well armed, the Squid-class lacks any form of defensive armament, leaving it vulnerable to attacking mobile suits. Like the other ships used by the Zanscare Empire, the ship had multiple bridges, one mounted above each hangar bay.

- 2-barrel Main Gun
- The main weapons of the Squid-class are eight 2-barrel main beam cannons situated on the dorsal, port, ventral, and starboard hull in pairs, each mounted in a superfiring structure. This positioning allows the ship to focus all its firepower on one target in front, as well as defend multiple angles of the ship. However, the rear of the ship is a large blind spot to these weapons. Each superfiring pair of twin main guns is positioned between a pair of launch catapults.
- Multi-Launcher
- Mounted in front of the launch catapults and the main guns are eight multi-launchers, capable of firing a variety of missiles for different roles.
History[]
The Squid-class was a specialized class of ship designed to be a command and control platform for the Keilas Guilie satellite cannon. Unlike the command and control ships used by the Earth Federation during the One Year War and following conflicts, the Squid-class was designed to defend itself and in fact carried more armament than any other class of Zanscare ship, with the exception of the Adrastea-class. The Squid I was used in the construction of the Reinforce Junior

- In ∀ Gundam, the remains of a Squid-class ship were used to create the Soreil Palace in a Lunar City.
- With length of 656 meters, the Squid-class is the longest battleship in Universal Century.
