Biography:

Sunol was foaled at Palo Alto Farm in California in 1886. She was by Electioneer out of Waxana. Under the guidance of Charles Marvin, she lowered the two-year-old world record to 2:18. As a four-year-old she went in 2:10 1/2 and was purchased by Robert Bonner for $41,000. In 1891, despite lameness, Sunol trotted in 2:08 1/4, at Stockton, California, the last world record to high-wheel sulky. She was retired to Bonner's stable and upon his death was sold to John Shults of Brooklyn for $4,000 and later to A. B. Coxe of Pennsylvania for $400. Sunol died at the Coxe farm in 1909.
