Flintifors was the incantation of a Transfiguration spell that turned the target into a matchbox.[1]
History[]
Professor Minerva McGonagall taught her first-year Transfiguration students this spell in 1991.[1]
Etymology[]
In some languages, as Swahili, Zulu, Chichewa or Shona; the word "flinti" means flaming.
From English "flint", with the -fors suffix attached.
Behind the scenes[]
- This spell acts as a reversal of sorts to the match to needle spell mentioned in the books.
- It was going to appear in the PC version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, but was cut from the final product for unknown reasons.
