The Brooklands Coupe of 2008 was from a family of Grand Tourers that only Bentley could produce. Incredible handmade craftsmanship and married to the current most powerful engine in the range with 530bhp.
This wasn’t just a fixed-head Azure or a Continental R, this was the ultimate GT with interior dimensions completely altered to accommodate 4 people in stunning luxury.

Bentley Introduced their new Coupe at the Geneva Motor Show in 2007. Launched as a Limited Edition model, Limited to 550 models worldwide. The first models became public in 2008.

Nearly all the cars sold in the UK are unique in their own way. Darker colours are more common than lighter ones. Light interiors are more common.

The Sports Combination features are;
SPORTS COMBINATION LEVEL 1 – 20″ 5-spoke 2 piece wheel and dark-tint stainless steel matrix to bumper apertures.
SPORTS COMBINATION LEVEL 2 – The same features as Level 1 with Diamond quilted indented hide to seat facings and door/three-quarter panels, indented hide to the steering wheel, headling and quarter head cushion, embroidered marque emblems to all headrests.

On its release, the car was launched with the Arnage and Azure who’d both had recent facelifts so a large flip-top brochure in a box was issued combining the three models together. There is a dedicated press book with an image DVD, these are quite readily available.

One of the best releases is a stunning book by Tony Dron made by a buyer of his Brooklands and his journey of order to delivery to the south of France. A Luxury edition was made in leather but they all came in a deluxe slipcase.

So the numbers. Although it was branded as a Limited Edition of 550, that was, like many Bentley Limited Editions the maximum amount that would be built. The actual number built from data from the Bentley VIN number catalogue is;
TOTAL CARS: 426 Worldwide Cars. (Not including Prototype cars – 432 total)
TOTAL RHD CARS: 105. EXPORT RHD CARS 8
Australia had 6 RHD cars delivered.
TOTAL UK CARS: 97.
Of the UK cars, I have every VIN number and I’m steadily gathering every colour they were finished in. I have at least 65 UK cars registered with colours and specs… need to search, sort and organise the others…
The rarest UK cars are those on a ’10 plate. Only six of those were registered. The rarest are the ‘final’ five, which were part of a Special Commission by Jack Barclay; these were all on the mentioned ’10 plate.

The last Brooklands to leave the production line was in January 2010. It is finished in Anthracite Grey, with the interior’s main hide colour being Newmarket Tan and Anthracite as the secondary hide. The veneer is dark Vavona wood. This is now part of the Heritage Collection.

There’s more to follow on the Brooklands soon… contact me if you know any… loads more old adverts and pictures to come!
