Comm. for His Plantation records, 1885-1920(William Kavanaugh Oldham (1865-1938); cotton planter of Lonoke County, Ark., Arkansas state legislator, and acting governor of Arkansas (1913); William Kavanaugh Oldham (1865-1938) served as acting Governor of Arkansas in 1913 when Joseph T. Robinson resigned to become a U.S. Senator. Oldham was born in Kentucky and moved to Arkansas where he settled in Pettus in Lonoke County. He was a highly successful cotton planter and served as a member of the Arkansas Cotton Growers Association and as chairman of the Cotton Reduction Commission. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1907, to the State Senate in 1911, and as President pro tempore of the Senate in 1913. He died at his home in Lonoke County in 1938)
