SummerSlam è uno degli eventi a pagamento organizzati annualmente dalla WWE, nonché il terzo più longevo tra quelli proposti e uno dei più importanti, tanto da essere comunemente indicato come uno dei cosiddetti "Big Four" (insieme a Royal Rumble, WrestleMania e Survivor Series).
