Writing history, especially overlooked eras like the Gilded Age or the post-World War I Red Scare, has been a passion of mine for almost four decades. I hope my Web site will give you the chance to share it.

When not writing, I practice law at OFW Law, Washington’s D.C.’s premier firm for agriculture, food and drug, medical devices, FDA, and health care, providing Creative Solutions to Difficult Problems.

• Latest from American Heritage:  Cuba, my notes from our eye-opening trip in January, what we found 60 years after the Revolution: Report from Cuba.
• 2025 Winter Workshop:  My annual seven-week winter workshop on Narrative Nonfiction: History Memoir, and Biography, starts February 5 and runs through mid-March.  This will be my fifteenth year running this class, and I’m proud of the many fine published books that have come out of it, as well as the many great writers and friends who have shared the experience.  Check it out here.  And yes, it’s on Zoom, so anyone from anywhere can happily link in.
