PURPOSE: To provide an encoding subassembly with which a solution can be achieved for improviding the image quality of composited image even when a data compression rate is high. CONSTITUTION: This encoding subassembly for image including at least one movable pattern in the fixed or semifixed background is provided with means 200 and 300 for constructing a basic model expressing the useful zone of image, an encoding means 400 and an accompanying subassembly. The model constructing means has an initial correcting and model matching means and an updating means and further, the means has a circuit 301 for determining the motion of characteristic point taken out of the useful zone and a circuit 302 for selecting one specified concerned zone at least out of the useful zones and determining its motion. The encoding means is provided with a circuit 420 for encoding an output signal form the initial correcting means, circuits 431 and 432 for encoding output signals from the circuits 301 and 302, and a circuit 433 for correcting the shift of luminance or chrominance on both the sides of edge of zone along with the edge of zone.
