Abstract

In connection with the study of autoxidation of someiso-linoleic acids, the 9,15-, 8,15-, and 7,15-octadecadienoic acids have been synthesized by partial hydrogenation of the corresponding diynoic acids. These acids were prepared by coupling ω-iodo-3-alkynes with ω-chloro-1-alkynes by means of sodium amide in liquid ammonia to form ω-chlorohexadiynes, followed by condensation of the corresponding iodine compounds with sodium malonic ester.
