Giga City

Giga City, known as Gigantis (ギガンティス Gigantisu) in Japan, is the primary setting of Mega Man X: Command Mission. It is a giant artificial island located in the Pacific Ocean, primarily devoted to mining and researching Force Metal.[1]
History[]
In the year 22XX, a meteor landed in the Pacific Ocean. When the Federation discovered the amazing properties of the meteorite's Force Metal ore, Giga City was constructed on the ocean near the meteor site to mine and develop it. Though Giga City is described as an island, it is really composed of multiple interconnected islands with varying purposes and properties. Among them were research labs, established in order to experiment on the creation of advanced Reploids using Force Metal. These Reploids had more advanced capabilities, but it was also discovered that too much Force Metal energy could make them suffer or go Maverick.
Eventually, the labs at Giga City developed Supra-Force Metal, a super-concentrated and extra dangerous Force Metal. Most experiments on Reploids resulting in them perishing or going totally Maverick, save for one Reploid: Epsilon. However, over time he began seeking to empower other Reploids like himself, and formed a Rebellion Army that took over the entire city. They banished all humans, declaring themselves an independent Reploid state. This leads to the events of the game.
