Journalists questioning Mega Man in Mega Man #23.

Journalism is the production and distribution of current events from a variety of topics that may be provided through many different media to inform society to at least some degree. The word applies to the occupation (professional or not), the methods of gathering information, and the organizing literary styles. Journalistic media include newspapers, magazines, television channels, radio, and Internet. Journalism is common in the Mega Man franchise.

Mega Man series[]

The Mega Man 6 ending and Mega Man 7 opening shows that Dr. Wily's capture by Mega Man appeared in the news, including in a newspaper named Capcom Times.

The Mega Man 9 opening scene shows a newscaster informing about Dr. Light's robots going out of control.

The opening from Mega Man's Soccer shows an announcer presenting a soccer game, which is attacked by Dr. Wily's robots.

Mega Man X series[]

While not present in the main games, two of the English instruction manuals presented the game's story as news, which may not be canon:

  • The Mega Man X2 manual shows the game's story as an article from a newspaper named Future Times, its headline being "X-TRA! X-TRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! Reploid Elimination Not Completed".
  • The Mega Man X3 manual presents its story as a website named REPLOIDS ON THE WEB that was produced and created by Cain Laboratories and supervised by Dr. Cain himself, containing an emergency warning about Dr. Doppler's anti-virus being a placebo.

Mega Man Zero series[]

Mega Man Zero 4 has a reporter named Neige that escaped from Neo Arcadia on a Caravan.

Some time after the fall of Neo Arcadia, the author Montagne wrote the documentaries "Vile's Incident: Eden dome, its sin and rebirth" and "Fake Hero".

Mega Man ZX series[]

In Mega Man ZX, the text "News Capcom" can be seen in some screens from Area C-2. Halison is a cameraman that is having trouble finding a scoop due to Area C being very peaceful, but he thinks that Slither Inc. may not be as good a company as people give them credit for. After Fiona is rescued, she wonders why the events from Area I were not in the news, suggesting that Slither Inc. has some control over the news to cover their actions.

The Rockman ZX Soundsketch - ZX GIGAMIX track "Soundsketch _ Reconstruction of Cinq Ville" shows the news about the collapse of Slither Inc.'s head office, informing that the cause is unknown and that it would be repurposed as an energy management building.

In Mega Man ZX Advent, the Hunter Carley is a reporter that specializes in reporting about Hunters. When she heard that the remains of an ancient Mechaniloid were found in the Oil Fields, she requests the player to find and put a micro transmitter at the site of the Mechaniloid remains, allowing her to later retrieve and analyze it.

Kattelox Island has the KTOX TV, which covered the capture of City Hall and MegaMan Volnutt's battle against the Bonne family.

The island also has a newspaper, which can be seen in the hospital and inside the Flutter. Its headline give a summary of what is happening on the island.

Before starting the expedition to Forbidden Island, Verner Von Bluecher held a conference inside the Sulphur-Bottom, media including KTOX TV, Migoyan, and Bonne. Yuna (in Matilda's body) took the microphone from the KTOX TV reporter and pretended to be a reporter. Also, Bonne is actually the Air Pirate Alliance disguised as reporters.

After repairing the Flutter and buying a new fridge, Roll asks MegaMan for 3000 Zenny to subscribe to a newspaper. If he gives the money, a newspaper will be available in the Flutter's living room, its content changing as the player progresses:

The book Rockman DASH 2 Kanzen Kouryaku Guide also has a piece of a newspaper named "Digouter News" (ディグアウター新聞).

Mega Man Battle Network series[]

Lan Hikari often receives news from e-mails on his PET, and sees the news on the TV in his house. In most games Lan receives news from MailNews (メールニュース also translated as NetNews and Newsmail), but he also received news from DNN (also Den News) in two games, from MailMag (メールマガジン) in Mega Man Battle Network 5, and from the NetPolice in Mega Man Battle Network 6.

DNN is a famous broadcasting news and entertainment station from Electopia. During the events of Mega Man Battle Network 3, the N1 Grand Prix NetBattle tournament was broadcasted by DNN, the finals being held inside of the main studio. Ribitta is a popular announcer from DNN.

In Mega Man Battle Network 2, Lan uses an old newspaper with a sports article and burns it to scare bees blocking the path in Okuden Valley. In the game's ending, Lan reads Sean's diary to learn about him, which had a newspaper page about the plane crash that resulted in the death of his parents five years ago, the plane crash being all over the news at the time.

Mega Man Star Force series[]

Geo often receives news from mails in his terminal, and also sees them on the TV in his house, learning about Noise from his TV in Mega Man Star Force 3.

The animated series has a reporter named Brie Ricotta that appeared in some episodes.

Mega Man (Archie Comics)[]

Many reporters were present in the unveiling of the Robot Masters in Titanium Park, and in the next day the news reported about the Robot Masters going out control.

The press tried to talk with Mega Man in the day Mega Man he would receive the key of Mega City from Mayor Dorado, and also covered the event, which was interrupted by Break Man.

Later, the press covered the unveiling of Gamma and witnessed the theft of the Energy Elements.

In 21XX, "Maverick" incidents were covered by the news.

Mega Man Megamix[]

The manga has the CPS, a popular national television network. CPS has a good variety of humans and robots on staff, each assigned to a role based on their specific talents and skills. Those include Plum, a field reporter, Ripot, a robot capable of independent flight, Chest, an MC in the studio, and Charlie, a human news anchor. These four are joined by many other humans of various ethnic backgrounds, as well as different types of robots. Everyone on the crew at CPS is so faithful to their jobs and so brave in the face of danger that they continued to provide incident reports for the public even when they themselves were accidentally pulled into the chaos of one of the bigger battles. Events that the CPS covered include the attack from Copy Mega Man and the Battle & Chase competition.

CPS may be named after Capcom's CP System.

Rockman X manga series[]

In the Rockman X3 manga, several reporters attempt to talk with Dr. Cain. To avoid them, he left a dummy on his place.
