Siarnaq (シャルナク Sharunaku) is a boss character in Mega Man ZX Advent who is the Biomatch for Biometal Model P. He is one of the four rival Mega Men who seek to empower Model W to win the Game of Destiny. He is fought at Legion HQ.

Appearance[]

Siarnaq is a young male Reploid with pale skin and spiky, dark purple hair. He is characterized by his emotionless face and small irises. Fitting with the motif of his Biometal, he is dressed in a ninja-like garb. The lower half of his face is obscured by a long, tattered red scarf. Like his fellow Mega Men, Siarnaq wears a vest with a purple coloration and a golden border. He also has a red triangle on his forehead, confirming his status as a Reploid.

Personality[]

Siarnaq's personality is monotone and robotic, making him seem almost lifeless. His Database disk suggests he acquired this personality (or lack thereof) after being betrayed and almost killed in the past.^[1] He is entirely focused on his missions and his speech is blunt and computer-like, making him seem more like a Mechaniloid than a Reploid. In English his speech is capitalized (e.g., requesting "INPUT RESPONSE" and declaring "INCOMPREHENSIBLE"), while in Japanese his text is written almost exclusively in katakana, which is typically used to imply a monotone voice in the language. It is implied that he chooses to speak this way to avoid all connections with others.^[2] In this case, he is a complete inversion of Model P's template, Hidden Phantom, as he has had his loyalty shattered and no longer trusts anyone.

Siarnaq is the only one of the four enemy Mega Men who never stated his rationale in participating in the Game of Destiny, if he even had a reason to begin with. He attempts to take over Legion HQ, which may show dissatisfaction with the government.^[3] He is shown to be sadistic, as when he defeats the player, he laughs dementedly - in the English version, his laugh is monotonous as expected, but in the Japanese version his laugh is high-pitched and deranged.

History[]

Background[]

In his past, Siarnaq was a Hunter and assassin. However, after an incident where he was betrayed and left for dead by his allies, Siarnaq became cold and impassive towards others.^[1] He was eventually approached by Prometheus and Pandora with Model P, and joined the Game of Destiny with unknown motivations.

Mega Man ZX Advent[]

Siarnaq first appears with Aeolus in the Tower of Verdure, after Grey/Ashe defeats Rospark the Floroid and witnesses a Model W absorb a Raider's soul. Siarnaq is totally focused on their objective to retrieve the Model W and barely acknowledges the Mega Man, departing with Aeolus.

Siarnaq is next encountered in Legion HQ, apparently planning to take over the Sage Trinity headquarters.^[3] He attacks the Model A Mega Man, but is defeated and forced to flee, but not before they copy his DNA data for A-Trans. This also unlocks the second cipher, which reveals that one of the Sage Trinity is the creator of Model W.

After Grey/Ashe defeats the Pseudoroids in Ouroboros, Siarnaq appears with the other Mega Men to interrupt their pursuit of Albert. Vent/Aile holds them off so Grey/Ashe can defeat Albert, resulting in the fall of Ouroboros. Model Z separates to immobilize the Biometals of Siarnaq and the others, forcing them to fall with Ouroboros.

However, Siarnaq survives. In the secret Expert Mode ending, Siarnaq appears with Master Thomas alongside the other Mega Men. The significance of this has yet to be revealed, although he and the others appearing immediately after Thomas alludes to the Reploid immortality data and original human bodies implies that they were somehow connected to Thomas and Albert's plans involving the discarded data/bodies.

Attacks[]

Siarnaq is a nimble opponent who can climb around the arena while throwing kunai knives. He can also teleport and create shadow clones of himself.

Shadow Dash	Siarnaq will always dash into thin air throughout the battle, reappearing in a corner of the room or behind the player.
Kunai	Siarnaq fires kunais in several ways. Ground - Siarnaq fires two kunais straight forward and then repeats it. In the air - Siarnaq fires four kunais diagonally. Hanging - Siarnaq will latch onto a railing or the ceiling and will fire three kunais in set directions, then one kunai in the player's direction.
Cross Shuriken	Siarnaq's charge attack. Siarnaq will launch two Cross Shurikens that deflect off the walls.	In Beginner mode, he will only launch one. Only used against Grey.
Mandala Shuriken	Siarnaq's charge attack. Siarnaq will summon four Mandala Shurikens around him that then spread throughout the whole battlefield.	In Beginner mode, he will only summon three, and they are slower. Only used against Ashe.
Bunshin	Siarnaq's ultimate move results in him cloning himself into three shadow clones, and the player must hit the correct one to stop the attack. If the player fails to do so, each clone will fire two kunais in their direction.	In Expert Mode, there will be four clones, and the kunais will travel faster. The Homing Shot is very helpful in this situation. Hitting the wrong clone will just make it disappear.

Etymology[]

• Siarnaq (pronounced shar-naak) is the name of an irregular, non-spherical moon of Saturn that follows an eccentric, retrograde orbit. It is named after the Inuit sea goddess and the ruler of the underworld.

Trivia[]

• In the English game manual, his name is misspelled Sirnaq.
• When the player copies Siarnaq with A-Trans, his voice sounds natural instead of robotic. This possibly represents his voice before his traumatic betrayal.
• Siarnaq's stage theme, Bullet Drive, was specially remixed for the Mega Man ZX Advent Soundtrack -ZXA Tunes- album. The song is called "Chun hsu wei lai", and features Chinese vocals by Sheng Zhiheng.
• Siarnaq keeps his own tattered scarf after Megamerged, although the Model PX made a full scarf for Vent/Aile.
