Danu
Danu is a demon in the series.
History[]
Danu is a hypothetical deity who was regarded as the Irish mother goddess by Victorian researchers. It has been proposed that the term "Tuatha de Dannan," collectively describing many major figures from Irish myths such as Dagda and Lugh, meant "children of Danu."
She is not attested in any medieval Irish sources. The term "Tuatha de Dannan" itself is no older than the 10th century, and developed as an artificial replacement for earlier terms in Christian times. Modern researchers are therefore skeptical about Danu's existence.[1]

Shin Megami Tensei IV[]
Lady Danu, former queen of the fairies, appears in the form of Black Maria, having been forced to merge with an interpretation of the Virgin Mary in an attempt to save her beloved children from being completely destroyed. When summoned by Nozomi, per the fairies' request, she reveals that she cannot return back to her old form and instead names Nozomi as her successor, granting Nozomi the powers she will need to fulfill her role as the next Lady Danu, and then returns to her duties as Black Maria.

Danu appears in the game as an ally of Nozomi, acting as an advisor to her.
In the Peace Route, Danu stopped Dagda by creating him anew, making one who fit the original ideals that Dagda embodied. In the Massacre route, she vanishes after Nozomi is killed by Nanashi, being too weak to sustain her existence without Nozomi.

"The mother goddess of Celtic mythology. She is the mother of the Tuatha De Danann, a race of gods and also the world itself, having given birth to all life.
Danu's large body is said to be lying down on earth to this day. The Munster region in Ireland, which is said to be especially blessed by her."

Maria transforms into Danu if the protagonist chooses to destroy the throne to let mortals live for themselves. Defeating her unlocks her for fusion, requiring a special fusion of Fionn mac Cumhaill, Skadi and Queen Medb.
She possesses her signature skill Matriarch's Love, healing herself and her allies for a moderate amount and removing any negative status effects and debuffs on them in the process.
