Hamish Preston

Hamish Preston was the husband of Clara Preston and brother-in-law of famed Starfleet engineer Montgomery Scott.

After Scott had retired and lost his former commanding officer, James T. Kirk, Hamish and Clara tried to pull him out of depression, and tried to set him up with local women. However, Scott was uninterested as they were mostly widows who only saw him as a famous Starfleet officer and not as a real person. (Star Trek novel: Engines of Destiny)
