Retroassassination
Retroassassination is the act of going back in time to assassinate someone, either by killing them directly or by preventing their birth. The grandfather paradox is an example of self-retroassassination.
Federation President Nanietta Bacco was the target of an attempted retroassassination in the year 2381, by an uptime faction in the Temporal Cold War seeking to stop the Temporal Defense Grid being built. (DTI novel: Watching the Clock)
Background information[]
Watching the Clock author Christopher L. Bennett coined the term to refer to the iconic science fiction trope of time travelers attempting to kill a target from their own historical past. Bennett stated that when he did research for the novel circa 2011, as far as Google could discern, no one had previously come up with the term. [1]
