USS Clarke (Oberth class)

The USS Clarke was a Federation starship, the prototype of the Clarke-subclass specification of the Oberth-class research vessel.
Service history and disposition[]
In 2275, the Clarke was fitted as a cutter ship, and was on hand to greet the USS Enterprise upon her return to the Sol system following Enterprise's test of the inversion drive. (TOS novel: The Wounded Sky)
Shortly after Gillian Taylor's arrival in the 23rd century, she signed on to a Federation science vessel, the USS Clarke, intent on bringing her scientific knowledge up to date. (TOS movie: Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
