SCENE 3 | Itzhak Perlman sits on the steps of 123 Sesame Street explaining that the letters of the alphabet are also the names of the notes he's playing on the violin. Oscar the Grouch interupts him saying he doesn't want anyone doing anything with the alphabet so near to his trash can. Perlman explains that what he was actually doing was telling a story about a town who held a banquet for a grouch whose attendants used the letters of the alphabet to describe him. Oscar is annoyed with letters A through L because they characterize him in a positive light, but warms to M through Z because they portray the grouch unfavorably. Perlman eventually reveals that he made the story up on the spot just so he could sit by his trash can and use the alphabet. (Oscar: "I've been diddled!") |
