What Wilmore Hopes to do is give his Best defensive player freshman Brian Richard a an even break when Richard goes against big bends i Rry jury the division s top offensive player. When the warriors beat the Vikings 89-67 in Walla Walla three weeks ago jury scored 36 Points. But he hooped 15 of those on 20 attempts from the free throw line and Richard eventually fouled out of the game. Quot i have to question a couple of those fouls a Wymore said. A they were Good checks. I done to think jury Ever had the Ball come Back in his face that quickly before. A eau i want to do is Point out to the referees that we have a defensive player in Brian who has a sense of being Able to explode almost after the Ball has been released and pick it off a Wilmore said. A i think i have to bring it to their attention. We done to want to Tell Brian not to play defense the Way he is Able to Richard on jury will be one of the key matchup in this game pitting the warriors against the division leading Vikings. But there win be others. Sophomores go Britt and Scott Young will be asked to guard the Vikings Mairus Barnes and Marcus Buren respectively. And the warriors two big freshmen Jim Mast and Randy Richards will draw Nolan Stewart and Tom Snider respectively. A they Are the quickest team in the league. Undoubtedly quicker than we Are a Wilmore said. A but in every other aspect of the game i think we compare very prior to beating the Vikings in Walla Waua the warriors lost the initial meeting Between the division rivals by an 88-77 count in Moses Lake. The Vikings Stewart who did no to play in the game at Walla Waua scored 22 Points and grabbed 20 rebounds in the game big Bend won. A naturally we Are going to be concerned with him a Wilmore said. But Wilmore also believes his team is playing at a higher level now than in either of the two previous games against big Bend. A things Are looking up for us a Wilmore said. A we even had a Chance to rest some people in our last game a 96-77 Victory Over Yakima last saturday night and maybe that a indicative of the improvement we be made. A having Mast and Richards both healthy and Able to play at the same time has made a big difference for us a Wilmore added. A defensively we re Able to clog up the Middle and prevent the easy baskets we were giving up Early. A and offensively it avows us to free up Brian Richard on the outside where he is More comfortable both As a shooter and a passer. He Sable to hit those two in the key and also Scott Young cutting across. It has definitely made us a better still the key remains in at least containing the offensive exploits of the Vikings jury who leads the division with better than 23 Points per game. A a we be got to play him tight and Sag inside i everyone else Quot Wymore said. A we can to let him wheel and Deal and we sure can to let him go to the free throw Une 20 the big Bend is the first of two critical Road games for the warriors this week. Saturday night they travel to Spokane to meet a Sasquatch team that has Defeated a acc twice earlier this season and is currently is second place in the East one game behind big Bend and two in front of Waua Walla and Csc co holders of third place. In other games tonight Spokane travels to Yakima and Wenatchee is at Columbia Basin. Saturday night big Bend visits Wenatchee and Csc is at Yakima in addition to the Waua Waua Spokane game. A i am surprised they called it because they let so much referee Tommy Nunez whistled Smith for the foul and Nixon Sank two free throws. After a Seattle timeout the linkers a Bob Mcadoo stole the Ball and was fouled. He Sank the first of two free throws to give los Angeles a 121-118 National basketball association Victory tuesday night. A it was a delayed Call a Wilkens said. After two straight 8-8 seasons the jets dipped to 4-12 in 1980 and Michaels was under almost constant criticism in the press. Kensil however stuck by him even after a 0-3 Start in 1981.
