The mother of former New York Post editor Mary Huhn died Thursday at the age of 98.
Mary Gertrude Seiberling Huhn, of Berwyn, Pa., was born in Akron, Ohio, on Sept. 20, 1920, the daughter of J. Frederick, whose father founded the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co.
Her mother, Henrietta Buckler Seiberling, helped launch Alcoholics Anonymous.
An ardent social activist, Mary Gertrude Seiberling grew up on the iconic 70-acre Stan Hywet Hall estate in Akron, built by her grandfather, F.A. Seiberling, who started Goodyear in 1898.
She attended Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, where she graduated in 1941 magna cum laude with a degree in English.
Mary is survived by her sister, Dorothy Seiberling Steinberg, her four children, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
