Palynology is the study of pollen, spores, dinoflagellates, and other microscopic organic-walled “palynomorphs.” Palynology originated in Scandinavia in the early 20th century and co-evolved with petroleum exploration after WWII.
Today it is a versatile tool at the cross-roads of geology and biology. It is used in forensics, honey analysis, evolution studies and exploration geology relevant in various fields relevant for the energy transition
