Abstract
ABSTRACT
.
A remote control system including an optical transmitter, an optical receiver and means such as an optic fibre cable permitting light transmission between the transmitter and receiver. A parallel-in serial-out binary shift register feeds the transmitter and receives input applying selected binary information to individual columns of the shift register.
A first clock drives this shift register after a seat of a trigger pulse to cycle and read the state of the columns of the first register to output a pulse train to the transmitter corresponding in sequence to the state of the columns. A serial-in parallel-out binary second shift register is connected to the receiver and under the action of a second clock outputs signals corresponding to respective pulses of the train at corresponding respective outputs of the second register. A latcher stores the respective outputs upon receipt of a strobe pulse and feeds respective operative means for effecting action in accordance with the output from the latcher and corresponding to the respective inputs to the first shift register.
Claims (5)
PROPERTY OR PRIVILEGE IS CLAIMED ARE DEFINED AS FOLLOWS:
1. A remote control system comprising an optical transmitter, an optical receiver, means permitting light transmission between said transmitter and receiver, pulse train generating means for modulating said transmitter and pulse train recognising and handling means for said receiver which comprises, a parallel-in serial-out binary first shift register, input means for applying selected binary input to individual columns of said shift register, first clock means for driving said first shift register, trigger means for actuating said first shift register for cycling by said clock for reading said columns and outputting a pulse train to said transmitter corresponding in sequence to said input to the columns, a serial-in parallel-out binary second shift register connected to said receiver, said second register including a plurality of columns each providing an output corresponding to the binary state of its respective column, second clock means for advancing said second register receiving said pulse train and outputting signals corresponding to respective pulses of said train at corresponding respective outputs of said second register, a latcher for storing said respective outputs upon receipt of a strobe pulse, and producing individual respective latcher outputs corresponding to said second register outputs, and respective operative means connected to said latcher for effect-ing action upon receipt of respective predetermined signals from said respective latcher outputs.
2. A remote central system as defined in claim 1, said input means for the first register feeding a predetermined input to at least two predetermined columns of said register, said predetermined input effecting marker pulses in each of said pulse trains.
3. A remote control system as defined in claim 2, comprising, strobe generating means connected to said second register receiving output from predetermined columns of said second register for generating said strobe pulse upon presence of said marker pulses in said predetermined columns.
4. A remote control system as defined in claim 3 comprising synchronising means between the receiver and the second register said second clock means being connected to said synchronising means, said synchronising means receiving said pulse train and output from said second clock and generating a synchronised pulse train synchronised to said second clock output.
5. A remote control system as defined in claim 4 said synchronising means comprising a bistable flip flop triggerable to change the state of its output to correspond to the state of its input from the receiver only at predetermined direction transitions of said second clock signal.
