Abstract

The joint for two axially aligned pipes has an end portion (14) of one pipe (12) received snugly within an end portion. The pipes (12, 10) are formed externally with annular ribs (15, 17), spaced from the ends of the pipes. The pipes are retained against axial separation by a clamping ring (30) encircling the two pipes at the joint, spanning the ribs and having at opposite axial ends flanges (34, 36) engaging the flanks of the ribs which are furthest from one another. The ring comprises two semi-circular parts (30a, 30b) hinged together at their one ends and drawn together at their other ends, when the ring is fitted, by a sliding clip.
