Abstract

1479209 Overhead power cable FELTEN & GUILLEAUME KABELWERKE AG 24 July 1974 [4 Aug 1973] 32738/74 Heading H1A A rope for use as high voltage overhead electrical power cable has longitudinal conductors of relatively low tensile strength and continuous fibres of an aromatic homopolyamide or, copolyamide plastics having high tensile strength compared to the conductors and formed into bundles or yarns so as to form load bearing elements, and an impregnation in manufacture of the rope determine the elasticity and flexibility of the bundles or yarns. The rope may be constructed so that conductor and plastics alternate radially, or circumferentially or the plastics may form a core. Modification may be made to the core by interspersing other fibres of plastics material which are more extensible.
