Abstract

A rucksack which converts into a baby change device comprises a rucksack with a hingedly 9 connected flap which pivots a maximum of 90{ from the axis of the back panel of the rucksack, and hooks 1 by which the rucksack may be suspended. The movement of the flap is limited by two pieces of webbing 10. The flap is provided with a concave base 12 and a strap 11 for restraining a baby. The rucksack may be provided with pockets 5 for storing items such as nappies and wet wipes.

Description

PORTABLE SUSPENDED BABY-CHANGER

The invention relates to a Portable Suspended Baby-Changer (PSB). This takes the form of a rucksack, which when un-zipped, transforms into a baby-changer which can be suspended over a door or other supporting structure.

Not all establishments have baby-changing facilities. This invention will allow parents to set up their own safe and hygienic baby-changing facility in any location which has a door or other supporting structure.

Accordingly, this invention provides a rucksack which can be suspended over a door or other supporting structure and which has an internal hinge at the bottom, allowing the front of the rucksack to open out, forming a concave base in which to rest the baby.

A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows the zipped PSB; FIGURE 2 shows the unzipped PSB.

As shown in Figure 1, the PSB has the appearance of a normal rucksack, with a zipped pocket,3, for additional storage. It has hooks, 1, attached to the shoulder straps,2, of the rucksack. The hooks,1, are used for hanging the rucksack over a door or other supporting structure and are preferably made of rubber but may instead be made of plastic or metal. The front of the rucksack is covered in a canvas material and the back is padded using foam or similar material. To access the baby changer, the rucksack is un-zipped using the zip,4, which goes from one side of the hinge round the top of the rucksack and back down to the other side of the hinge.

As shown in Figure 2, the front of the rucksack forms the base,12. The base is rigid and preferably made of plastic but instead may be made of other lightweight rigid material. It is concave in shape and has a webbing strap,1 1, attached to it for securing the baby. The hinge,9, is restricted so that the base can only be pulled down to a maximum 90 degree angle. The back of the rucksack,7, forms the upright, which rests against the door or other supporting structure. The upright is rigid and flat, and is preferably made of plastic but instead may be made of other lightweight rigid material. There are pockets,5, for storing items such as nappies, wet-wipes and nappy sacks. The pockets have flaps,8, which are secured with velcro or other similar material. Additionally there are 2 upright open pockets, 6, for storing babies bottles. The inside back of the rucksack, 7, and the pockets,5 & 6, are covered in a waterproof material. Two V's of material, 10, connect the base and the upright.
