Abstract
A free-standing punching bag comprises an upright bag 302 supported by a detachable base 304, 305, 306, 307. A protector 303 surrounds the connector between the bag and base. The connector may comprise a set of connecting rods which are covered by the protector. The protector may be made of foam and may be opened and closed using a strap. The protector may provide an extra striking area below the bag.
Description
FREE STANDING PUNCHING BAG HAVING A PROTECTOR AROUND THE CONNECTING AREA
BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
Field of Invention
[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to equipment used for exercise, and more particularly, to a protector designed to be used in covering the area (connector) where a free standing punching bag connects to its base.
Description of Related Art
[0002] Punching bags generally, are equipment designed to be kicked or punched repeatedly. They are often used during training exercises by sports people. Usually, they are hung on the ceiling while in other instances, they are placed on the floor in a free standing position. The present invention relates to free standing punching bags.
[0003] Free standing punching bags are often designed with a connector that links the bag to the base to aid its standing position. Although this type of punching bag has proved to be effective, however, it is also subject to its own shortcomings. Usually, the connector which links the punching bag to the standing base is made of strong materials such as steel capable of causing injury to an athlete's body when striking the lower portion of the punching bag. Therefore, the user of the punching bag has to be extremely careful to avoid accidental striking of the steel connector area. Lastly, free standing punching bags usually do not have enough striking area at the lower part due to the connector area consisting of steel rods.
[0004] As a result of the problems associated with these prior art, it is desirable to have a punching bag version which solves the problems described above. This is the objective of the present invention, and the details will be discussed in the paragraphs below.
SUMMARY
[0005] The following paragraphs under this summary describes the features and functions of the present invention. It would be easy for anyone skilled in the art to easily get a full understanding of the invention by considering the whole specification, claims, drawings, and as well as the abstract.
[0006] In the present invention, a free standing punching bag having a protector, is disclosed. The invention comprises an upright punching bag supported by a detachable base.
[0007] The punching bag is connected to the base by a connector consisting of steel rods and a set of coils.
[0008] The present invention further consists of a protector designed to cover the connector area of the punching bag and the protector is made of foam material or other suitable materials. The first function of the protector is to provide a cushioning when the connector area of the punching bag is accidentally struck, thereby preventing injuries. Secondly, it provides an extra striking area for the athlete due to the extended overall length of the punching bag. The protector can be installed around the connector area by opening and closing it with the aid of a strap.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
FIG. 1 is an illustrative representation of the front view of the present invention; a free standing punching bag showing the exposed connector area.
FIG. 2 shows the front view of the present invention; a free standing punching bag showing the exposed connector area with a slightly different connector.
FIG. 3 shows the front view of the present invention; a free standing punching bag showing the connector area covered up with the protector.
FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the protector in one position. FIG. 5 shows a perspective view of the protector in another position.
FIG. 6 shows a perspective view of the protector in a third position. FIG. 7 shows a top view of the protector.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[0009] Detailed descriptions of the present invention, as illustrated in FIG. 1-7 of the drawings are provided herein. In the present invention, a free standing punching bag having a protector over the connector area to the base is disclosed.
[0010] In FIG. 1, a free standing punching bag having an exposed connector area, is disclosed. The invention consists of an upright punching bag 100, 101, 102 which makes up the total striking area available to the athlete using it.
[0011] FIG. 1 further discloses a connecting support system (connector) 103, 104, 105, 106, 107 which connects the punching bag 100-102 to the base 108, 109, 110, 111 of the invention.
[0012] FIG. 2 discloses the same connecting support system (connector) as in FIG. 1. The only difference is a slight modification of the connector area, leaving the connector to function the same way as the connector disclosed in FIG. 1.
[0013] FIG. 3 discloses the present invention having the connector area covered up by the protector. 300, 301, 302 make up the primary striking area of the punching bag, 303 is the protector which provides protection and extra striking area below the punching bag. 304, 305, 306 and 307 make up the base of the punching bag.
[0014] FIG. 4 discloses a perspective view of the protector in one position. 400, 401 and 402 make up the top part of the protector. 403, 404 make up the strap able part of the protector.
[0015] FIG. 5 discloses a perspective view of the protector in another position. 600, 601 and 602 make up the top of the protector. 603, 604, 605 make up the strap able part of the protector. The protector can be sealed and unsealed by connecting 603 to 604.
[0016] FIG. 6 discloses a perspective view of the protector in a third position (the protector is opened). 701, 703 and 706 make up the inner part of the protector, 702 is the top part while 704 and 705 is the strap able parts of the protector.
[0017] FIG. 7 discloses a top view of the protector.
