Abstract
539,912. Dyeing textiles. DURAND & HUGUENIN AKT.-GES. Aug. 5, 1940, No. 12592. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1939. .[Class 15 (ii)] Printing. A preparation for use in the printing of textile materials with azo dyes produced on the materials comprises a coupling component and a stabilized diazo compound, such as a diazoamino compound or a nitrosamine, a compound splitting off acid when heated, a cellulose derivative, e.g. a nitro-, acetyl- or ethyl-cellulose, all dissolved in a solvent which is an aliphatic mono- or polyhydric alcohol or an ether or ester thereof or an aliphatic hydroxy carboxylic acid or an ether or ester thereof. A softening agent, e.g. triphenyl or tricresyl phosphate, and, if desired, a dispersing agent, e.g. the sodium salt of oleyl-N-methyltauride or a "Sapamin" (Registered Trade Mark) or Turkey red oil may advantageously be present in the preparation. Specified compounds splitting off acid when heated are ammonium oxalate and diethyl tartrate and specified solvents are methyl, ethyl and butyl alcohols, glycol monomethyl and monoethyl ethers, diethylene glycol mono- and di-ethyl ethers, dioxane, ethyl lactate, diethyl tartrate and butyl acetate. In examples a printing preparation comprises (1) the 2<SP>1</SP>-anisidide of 2 : 3-hydroxynaphthoic acid, the diazoamino compound from diazotized 4-chloro-2-amino-anisole and 4-sulpho-2-aminobenzoic acid, a nitrocellulose lacquer containing collodion wool of high or low viscosity, butyl alcohol, butyl acetate, ethyl lactate, ethyl alcohol and, if high viscosity collodion wool is used, an addition of triphenyl phosphate, ammonium oxalate and, as solvent, a mixture of glycol monoethyl ether, diethyleneglycol diethyl ether and water ; (2) the same with replacement of the 2<SP>1</SP>- by the 4<SP>1</SP>-anisidide and of the diazo component by 4-nitro-2- aminoanisole ; (3) the same as in (1) with replacement of the 2<SP>1</SP>-anisidide by the anilide, of the diazo component by 3-nitroaniline and of the ammonium oxalate by diethyl tartrate and ammonia. Cotton printed with such a preparation is dried at 110-120‹ C. to obtain a bright print fast to rubbing.
